Can I assume you’ve seen this dog talking video on Youtube? This video went viral through social media. There are more then 57 million people who have viewed this dog talking video! My family has laughed and laughed replaying the dog’s words, expressions and reponses. In case you missed it, take a look at this viral video!

What makes a video become successful and become viral? (Viral can be defined in today’s terms in that the video is shared and sent to thousands of people like a virus.) Several important factors in video marketing and search engine optimization include:

  • People enjoy humor
  • Short videos (Note the dog talking video is under 2 minutes!)
  • Good keywords in title and description
  • Using Youtube for link building
  • Add your website address at the end of your video (Keep it simple! Leave your web address on long enough for a person to write it down.)
  • Your video can be created/edited with inexpensive video tools (It doesn’t have to be professional to become viral!)

Youtube is a great place for video marketing! Create a channel for your videos and make sure to add a link to your website in addition to using keywords in the descriptions and titles. Because Youtube in owned by Google, it can help you with search engine results if you are optimizing your videos!

You may choose not to create a dog talking video… but you can create a video and promote it with Youtube and video marketing! If you haven’t started, what are you waiting for? :)

Have you seen the Google “Like” button in search results? It’s officially called Google +1. It appears and works something like Facebook’s “Like” button. You can see your friend’s approval of sites and it might impact your decision to make a purchase or view a website.

From the official Google blog, Google’s statement about this button is: “Our goal at Google is to get you the most relevant results as quickly as possible. But relevance is about relationships as well as words on webpages.”

Adding social searches to Google is nothing new. Finding Twitter and Facebook comments is part of the normal organic search. But now Google is taking the social aspect one step further. If your friends, family or co-w0rkers like the website and click on the “like” button, there will be a greater chance you will view the same website or purchase the product.

In order to use this Google “Like” button, you will need to have a Google profile. Don’t think Google doesn’t know the science in marketing. :)  Right now, Google has your button ratings viewable on your Google profile. Not only is this button seen in organic searches, Google +1 is also available on Google’s paid ads.

Now what does this mean to the website owner? I’m not sure at this point but you want to be sure you have a Gmail account and a Google profile for yourself and your business. Google is planning to have a gadget to add this button to your own website but it isn’t available yet! Let’s see what direction Google goes with this button and begin by watching this video created by Google about this “Like” button called Google+1.

Google+1 is still in it’s early stages and will probably be tweaked regarding how much emphesis these ratings have on search results. Will this change search engine optimization? Perhaps, but social media has already started that. And if your business isn’t represented on sites such as Facebook, Linkedin, or Merchant Circle, now is the time to start. You don’t want to be left behind from this great method of internet marketing!

This post is for the younger generation! Here is a rapper that preforms and raps some SEO tips! I thought he did a pretty good job and I was “down” with this video! This is for teens and young people interested in SEO.  Watch this video and follow these steps for SEO that this rapper raps about, all translated below for those who can’t understand the rapping rapper! :)

Steps for SEO:

  • Page rank – If you want your listing in the top position, you should pay attention and increase your website’s  page rank. (This can be seen in Google’s toolbar)
  • Content – Add lots of unique content to your website with at least 250 words per post or page. The more often, the better! (Use  content relevant to your site.)
  • Headers or Titles – Add the H1 to the title on your web page
  • Cross Links – Make sure to use links within your site. (Also known as internal linking)
  • List items – Use bullet points to make it easier to read. (As I am doing here!)
  • Keywords – Use good keywords and make sure to use the keyword(s) approximately every 100 words (Also known as keyword density) Don’t use the keywords too many times. (Also known as keyword stuffing)
  • Navigation – Make sure the navigation of your web pages are done well without errors. (Also called on-page optimization)
  • Link Sculpting – Make sure your links work and don’t have errors. (This can be seen in Google Webmaster Tools)
  • Meta Tags – Use unique meta tags on each page.
  • Text Links – Use good keywords in links and put the link in the middle of content. (also known as anchor text)
  • Inbound Links – Get people to link to your web pages. This helps search engines know your website is valuable. Constantly work to increase links to your website. Use clients, distributors, manufactures and other related sites. Note: Link quality in better then link quantity. (This rapper doesn’t trade or buy links which can develop into bad SEO tactics and be expensive.)
  • Directories – Add your website to directories. (The rapper mentions Yahoo directory and states it costs $300.) You can find numerous good directories that are free!

I hope this rapper’s video and the summary helps you take some initial steps for SEO!

FINAL NOTE: If any of the rapper’s words are confusing, you can get the definitions in our SEO glossary. After watching this rapper’s video dealing with steps to SEO, search our SEO blog for more valuable information!

It’s that time of year again! It’s Christmas time and we focus on the Nativity Story; the story of the birth of Jesus. Most people know the story about Mary and Joseph.  Jesus, the son of God was born in a manager because there was no room in the inn.  This Christmas video below is that same well-known story, but also, it is the Nativity Story with social media. It is interesting, and hopefully no one will find it disrespectful  of our Lord and Savior.

We found the Nativity Story in modern day times to be a great way people can relate with social media and to Christmas! Bravo to Excentric! Social Media and popular websites included were: Gmaill, Wikipedia, Google Maps, Twitter, Foursquare, Facebook, Amazon, and Youtube!

We also hope you take the time this Christmas to focus on who Baby Jesus was and why God came down to earth. He is the Savior of the World! For more information about who Jesus is, please visit this website: Online Bible Study for Beginners.

We wish YOU a Merry Christmas !!!

There can be humor in marketing on the web!

This week I read about Subaru’s new marketing campaign. They are using humor in marketing! The humor is slightly hidden at first glance.

Subaru’s campaign embraces a new car called “Mediocrity.”  Subaru pretends to introduce the new 2011 Mediocrity.  I clicked on “build your own car” and got to choose between four beige colors. I saw the humor right then. :) The truth in this marketing campaign is that the fake car, the Mediocrity, is actually promoting the 2011 Subaru Legacy! Take a look at the website: http://www.subaru.com/content/static/fightmediocrity/index.html

Right now, there are three humor in marketing videos. Each video mimics some of the tactics that other car companies have used in their video marketing campaigns. Here is one of the Mediocrity car videos.

Using social media, Subaru is adding laughter and humor in marketing to Facebook, Twitter, Flicker  and Youtube. They want followers, friends, and viral videos!

Subaru’s campaign is actually for the 2011 Legacy.  Subaru  has a call-to-action  with a link to their new car on each page. (Great web marketing!) Their new car can be viewed on this web page: http://www.subaru.com/vehicles/legacy/index.html

I do wonder ~ How will this campaign pan out in the end?

  • Will people grab onto the humor and make the videos go viral?
  • Will people not respond and think it’s a dumb video and toss it?
  • Will people not realize the satire and think the Mediocrity is a real car?
  • Will Subaru’s humor in marketing flop or will it explode with product sales!?!
(Note: We own a Subaru and have owned it since it was new in 1995.  My husband won’t part with it! This blog post was solely intended for humor in marketing purposes.)

Millions of people use search engines but many people have trouble understanding search engines, SEO and how it all works.

I imagine many people think search engines results appear “magically” after typing in the information they are looking for. Years ago I guessed Google grabbed the websites from a “lottery ball” method. It really is a lot more precise and complicated then most people comprehend. :)

Understanding search engines and the basics of how Google gets their results for you will help you identify important factors of SEO and why there is a genuine need to know search engine optimization.

Google recently put a 3 minute video together to help you with understanding search engines. Take a look at Matt Cutts (One of the important team players from Google!) as he explains search engines and how Google works. This video has great visuals to help make sense of it all!

After viewing this video, if you’d like help understanding search engines and SEO, we are here to assist you! Let’s take a look at your website and get it optimized to be in the best search engine results for the user and for YOUR business!

Marketing products in 1930 commercials is my subject today. Why?  It’s a blast from the past! Watching the promo below,  it really made me think! Wow! Have we come a long way in the way we think about marketing a product! With the invention of the internet (Thanks, Al Gore! :) ) and search engines, the manner we market to the public has changed tremendously! Instead of trying to sell a product to the viewer, we now help people find the product they are searching for. (And that of itself would be another topic on search engine optimization!)

Here is one of the 1930 commercials. Spanky McFarland (from Our Gang: The Little Rascals) is the star in this promo.  Here are a few things to pay attention to while you watch this short clip.

  1. Note Spanky’s total disinterest in the bike and in the promotion.
  2. Spanky is being noticeably coached.
  3. After Spanky holds a brochure, he throws it on the ground!
  4. There doesn’t appear to be any editing in this promo! Remember what it was like before spell checker or Microsoft Word? Before picture editors or even before we could edit our blog posts after it’s published?

This promo was created for Speed-O Bikes!

Marketing has changed through the years! It’s been more then 50 years since 1930 commercials. If you still haven’t created a website for your small business, it’s time to get out of the past and hit the fast forward button!

Where do you get potential clients for business? In difficult economic times,  this is a very important question that all small business owners or anyone self-employed is asking.  As a South Florida SEO business, we focus on search engines and internet marketing.

Let me list a few of the areas you can get your potential clients for business:

  • Internet Marketing
  • Search Engine Marketing (paid or free)
  • Word of mouth (WOM)
  • Email marketing
  • TV advertising
  • Radio advertising
  • Soliciting (door-to-door or phone)

Now I’m going to dig a little deeper into the huge possibilities of internet marketing:

  • Social media (Facebook, Linkedin, My Space, etc…)
  • Videos (Youtube is the biggest website and it’s owned by Google)
  • Articles
  • Press Releases
  • Directories

When working to find potential clients through internet marketing you need to implement search engine optimization to maximize the possibilities! Otherwise, in a world where millions of people search for websites, your business will get lost in the shuffle of all the other businesses trying to market themselves.

When you choose to use internet marketing for your business, you can also benefit from word of mouth and gain potential clients for business by successful internet marketing and search engine optimization; potential clients from WOM can come along without any added work!

I hope this helps you with some new ideas as you look for potential clients for your business! Send us an email  or comment on our SEO blog if you have questions about internet marketing or search engine optimization.

Most people who hear the name Tim Tebow think of the Florida Gators and know he is a Florida Quarterback football player. But if you listen to him speak, you also know Tim Tebow’s religion is important to him. And although I am not a sports fanatic, through Christian internet marketing, I know about Tim Tebow’s Christian faith.  This is Christian internet marketing and it works!

How can I connect Tim Tebow and Christian internet marketing? Take a look and google his name or go to Youtube and search for Tim Tebow videos. What do you find and how many views do you see? Tim Tebow’s religion, Christianity, is making a difference! Take a look at these two videos. Is this good Christian internet marketing? Articles and videos on the web are giving him credibility, more fans and I am sure people are wondering about his faith, boldly mentioned in videos. Check it out…

Note that there are professionally done videos AND tapings created by regular fans. In this second video even though it’s an amateur video taping, it’s his fans marketing him! That’s internet marketing at it’s finest.

Tim Tebow’s religion is reflected through his speeches. He mentions his love for his Savior, Jesus Christ and many times mentions Bible verses such as John 3:16 or Philippians 4:13.

I guarantee you. Every football sports fan has had Christian internet marketing from Florida Quarterback, Tim Tebow. Go brother! Shine your light for Jesus! Love it! ♥

Viral Videos are video clips that gain popularity on the internet from people via email or social networking.  They go “viral” being spread and shared (marketed) with their friends.

This week I saw Verizon’s video marketing the Druid phone.  Close to one million views,  it has quickly gone viral. And look at me adding it on my blog! :)

Here are some of the key factors I find interesting about this viral video:

  1. Short title = iDon’t
  2. Catchy jingle.
  3. Length of video is short but sweet – 32 seconds!
  4. It makes fun of the competition, iPhone.
  5. The video itself is done without actors; computer generated.
  6. It’s funny and unique.
  7. It has the web address posted at the end so viewers can get more information. (although I feel it should have stayed visible a little longer)
  8. The video doesn’t state the company name: Verizon.
  9. The video uses iphone lingo to catch your attention.

It caught my attention.  Did it catch yours? That’s the goal for a viral video!
